Hi. I have years of experience with C# and Entity Framework. I would approach this by modeling your domain (the XML) and then letting Entity Framework create the Database schema from that model, an industry-standard practice. This would also make future maintenance a breeze, as the domain changes (maybe a field is added), Entity Framework can be used to create a migration and automatically update the database to keep everything in line. As for SQL -> XML, there is a standard XML library for C# that can easily be used to serialize the domain models. I look forward to working with you.
