I have a very simple binary file that I use to store data and is basically a huge file of double values. The file actually contains 'lists' of prices stored as double arrays.
The index file stores a list of codes, the file position where the first price element resides and the number of elements available (prices for each code are contiguous in the file).
The index also holds the date to the first element and, as there is one price per day per code, it is easy to calculate the date for each price element.
The database can be 200 meg in size but because, using the index, we can calculate where to read each price, it is very fast.
I want a simple driver that can read prices using the code and date.
The ODBC driver needs to provide
* Read only access to the file.
* No SQL support required.
* Automatically configure itself (Database location stored in an ini file)
* Be File Locking Sympathetic ( other applications need read/write access to the table).
* The driver will also have an encrypted security file that identifies the PC it is allowed to run on using a combination of Disk Series Number & Mac Address. We'll need a simple program to create this - preferebly in Delphi 2009.
* An installer - preferably Inno
I'll need some good C++/Delphi/Excel VBA examples and good documentation so a user can use this quickly with limited technical knowledge. Also a technical specification of the Driver for developers.
