We invite Structural Engineers to solve the following problem sets You will have 10 days to complete each task (total 30 days for all problem sets) Determine the absolute maximum bending moment and shear force for the below continuous beams using moment distribution method (MDM). Draw the Bending Moment Diagram (BMD) and Shear Force Diagram (SFD). B. Frame analyses. I. State whether the below frame can be classified as a sway frame? If so, why? II. Perform Moment distribution analyses and draw BMD & SFD. The girder is named A-B-C-D-E-F starting from top left hand corner and moving clockwise finishing at the bottom left hand side node. A 50kN point load is applied at the top-mid node (B) and the supports F and D are hinged.. Take E = 200GPa; I = 250 × 106 mm4. Using the Moment Distribution Method, determine the reactions at F and D and deflection of points B and E; also draw the SFD, BMD, and AFD of the girder. Determine the Mu of the girder and determine the corresponding Pu. (b) Determine the shear strength of the beam Vuc; as the shear stirrups are corroded, assume Vuc = Vu and hence calculate the corresponding Pu. (c) From the Pu determined in (a) and (b) above, comment whether the girder will fail in bending or shear. Design a typical reinforced concrete cantilever balcony beam and slab system for a high-rise apartment building to satisfy ultimate limit state requirements from the following description: Check the serviceability limit state conditions of the balcony structural system.
