We have a large excel document about 200 lines(could be made a CSV) the first column has a number which will be used as the filename of the exported PDF, the second column is a url. We need something written that will save grab the URL from each line of the file and save it as a seperate PDF with the file name being the number from the first column. The URL in the PDF must be clickable.
eg
123, [login to view URL]
124, [login to view URL]
122, [login to view URL]
the output for this would be three seperate PDFs. One called 123, one called 124 and one called 122. Each of these would have the URL as a clickable link inside the PDF
We need the script written so that we can do the same process again in the future with a new CSV or xlsx file
This can be written in anything that can be run on windows

Hi,
As an analytical chemist I have experience in writing visual basic macros for the purposes of reformatting and exporting Excel data from scientific analysis, and I can use these skills to quickly complete your project. I do not believe it will take me more than a day to complete the job once it is awarded. Please check my portfolio for previous examples of work I have done in similar areas.
Thanks for your consideration,
Dan
Hello.
Python will work just perfect for this project :)
If interested please let me know, I could have the project ready really quick.
Please let me know if you have any other specifications like:
- Should the csv file be on the same folder as the python file? Should it be a dynamic location and dynamic name?
- Should the output files be generated in the same folder (or subfolder of the same folder) as the script location? If not, do you need the script to be able to select a location where to save the files?
Do you need any other dynamic options on the script?
Please let me know and we can discuss about price as soon as I have those details.
Thanks,
Cristian.
I am an experienced developer (although new to freelancer). I've only recently created something similar at work with output files linked to records in our work system.
My prosposal would be to create an excel file which would allow:
-Importing of a CSV or Excel file (I'd include a button to browse to the file)
-Validate the file matches the required structure
-Allow the user to select an output folder (for the created PDF files)
-Creating of the PDF's with the included link
As mentioned I am new to freelance but very experienced in this sort of work, having done this type of work for Australian finance clients throughout my professional life. I'm confident you'll be happy with the work produced.
This is a very achievable goal using python. I am a full time Linux admin who scripts daily using python. I am familiar with the libraries necessary to do this.
