Hi there, I did a similar project that required matching names in a existing database with data from a phonebook from multiple carrires, so again matching millions of records. Regex is very slow and definitely now suitable for something like this, and I agree you need a system where a % score can be set to determine a match. The only problem here is the when PHP has to match each records has to be read from the database for each record to be matched, which would greatly slow things down, but perhaps once I look at what you have I can think of a faster system. I have written this code and can test my code against your system if you would like. Please PM so we can discuss.

Hi, I am a database developer bidding for this project. I would be able to create the regex for you to auto match the master product with those in the additional tables. What I need to know is some information about the slave tables, in the sense how they are generated, periodically etc. I ask because the problem is not so much the regex but being able to create an optimised framework within which to query such a large number of tables. The degree of optimization would be directly related to the latency you can tolerate when doing the search - that is do you need to have the results immediately or an hour later or next day is good.
