Documents and Information Required From You
Your assignment is to complete the Level 3 Spec based on the requirements defined in the Level 2 document. As shown in the L3 example milestone, a milestone may provide significant technical direction, but focuses on the important technical decisions with the assumption that the development team will be following proper SDLC best practices, such as creating unit tests, performing code reviews and using a CI system. In addition to creating milestones, you’ll need to provide an dataflow diagram of the complete solution and document the REST API that should be built. In the end, you have three key deliverables:
A Swagger yaml documenting your REST API
include data type definitions for new objects as required
verify that your yaml is swagger compliant, you may want to use the codegen tool to verify java server / client code can be produced
2) A physical data flow diagram that includes:
a description of the single use case whose dataflow you will depict - showing only one data flow simplifies the diagram, additional diagrams may be created in the future if there is ambiguity
external systems (the primary VCS, the REST client)
important logical components of the service being built
other required infrastructure (databases, message queues, on disk storage, etc ...)
data flow arrows, with numbered steps indicating the progression of data in the system
A completed L3 with Milestones 3 - 10 (you may need more or fewer) each of which you feel is 1 - 2 weeks of work for 1 - 2 Sr. Developers.
Add your data flow diagram to the top of this document
use Milestone 5 as an example to follow
create as few or as many milestones as you believe is necessary
be sure that your final milestone includes a demo that makes you confident that the system is ready for clients to start using it
