Existing Website Maintenance

My website is managed entirely by me and I have to make changes to it almost every day. It was originally written in HTML and then converted to PHP fairly easily so that some of the features of PHP such as "include" can be used to call routines that repeat often throughout the website. The web address where the developer will work is, "[login to view URL]" This staging site is where I test any changes that are made before I place them on the main, live site. I will only allow the developer to have access to the staging site with an FTP client (until I feel comfortable with our relationship). Communication is of utmost importance to me. IMPORTANT: As part of this project, the developer will be required to keep an accurate log of each and every line number that is modified or added to any file on the staging site. The log of changes must be provided to me routinely when each task is completed. This is the only way I can keep track of what was done so that I can continue to manage the website on my own, on-going, moving forward. Task 1: The developer must have access to tools that search for non-standard HTML coding practices or errors and things like obsolete formatting of text that should have been replaced with CSS. Although, there is not much of this kind of problem remaining but probably some on various pages and that is why you have to search for them using tools (PageSpeed or GTmetrix possibly, or other tools). Task 2: The developer must have good graphic skill and must be very familiar with "sprite images", how they are used, how they work in a website, and how to prepare them from existing graphic image files on this website. Sprites will not be required for photographic pictures that are on the website, but mainly for emoticons, graphic symbols and other static images that appear on various pages. Task 3: In many instances, the "alt text" parameter is missing on many of the photographs displayed on various pages of the website. These need to be searched for and properly filled out to keep Google crawlers happy. If these tasks can be completed fairly quickly, with thoughtfulness, good techniques, and low cost, there could be additional work that would follow long-term. ALSO IMPORTANT: The communication between us must be comprehensive, professional, and timely. If I cannot reach you during the times when you say you will be available, or if you cannot work during the hours that you commit to working on this project, then this will not be a good project for you to bid on. I usually monitor Skype from my phone and I can be reached there after I award the project here on FL. My name is Emery and I am in the U.S. central time zone. Before I award the project to a developer, I have to feel comfortable with your communication skills and your professionalism, so please don't try to push me to award you the project before this occurs to my satisfaction. Also, if you bid high on this project just because I have given a thorough description, you probably won’t get the award because this is not a project with “deep pockets”. One other thing: If you are part of a team of developers or organization, DO NOT BID on this project. I am looking for a freelancer, which means someone who works on their own, not for a company or a team. And, I need a full-time freelancer, not someone who is part-time and has commitments and responsibilities to another line of work. Thank you.
