We sell high quality templates online and will start soon 'renting' out templates to some companies, who are including them in their programs. but also other templates bought from us have certain server license, meaning that they are only allowed to install it on 1 IP and other templates go pr.domain. The point is, i would like to (in howfar as possible) keep some kind of track on these templates and protect this by an encrypted code which i can generate myself. I also need to figure out some kind of solution where this code can not be removed otherwise the template would not work. (sounds allmost impossible for me, but maybe to protect certain areas of html, but those can be easily re-written off course.) maybe a small coded [login to view URL] or so could do the trick. So that proberbly would mean that im in need for a small program, that would be able to: - 'track' where a template is installed. - protect the code by encryption. UPDATE: ok, concerning the 'track' part: What i have been thinking.... We have an advanced statistic system called Urchin, which can keep track of referal websites and counts hits. maybe i just need to add 1 line of code, but that one should be hidden some kind in the template and includes a link to our stats system, that way i can see exactly where a template is installed. offcourse, if somebody removes the code, this would not work anymore.
