This is a two part project ( first part old stuff grammar stuff second part new database stuff): 1st part described in deliverables. 2nd PART- ************************************** Write a program to simulate the processing of a database assuming there is no index, and then again, assuming there is an index. The database will be inventory(partno, typecode)where partno is [1..400] and typecode is [1..40] Specifically in version 1, you will create 100 tuples randomly to fill the inventory database. Each partno and each typecode will be randomly generated integer in the proper range. The database will be stored ina 2 -dim array with 2 columns and 100 rows. The rows/tuples will always remian unordered - in just the order the rows/tuples were randomly created. In version 2, you will also create the same 100*2 2-dim array and leave it unordered also. However, you will create and maintain an index on partno as a sorted array called index of size 100*2 where index[i][0] is a partno currently located in your database and index [i][1] gives the row number in the database where index[i][0] is located. In version 2, you will access the database by searching the index using binary search. for the second program - the database This version 1 and version 2 will compare the time cost of performing the same set of operations on the database of version 1 and version 2 as follows: 1. Create the inventory DB for version 1 and version 2 as indicated above. I will give you the rest of the info in a text file later tonight or tomorrow. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law.
