Extension of the Microsoft Portal Starter Kit Framework

This job is for someone who is already familiar with the Portal Starter Kit as offered by Microsoft or who wants to spend some time getting familiar with it. The Portal Starter Kit is demonstrating best practices for ASP.net developments of Content Management Systems (CMS) or Portals. All source code is offered by Microsoft for free and can be modified and reused. For reference, please read <http://www.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=8&tabid=47>(at the very bottom you find the Portal Starter Kit), where you can Download the source code and review the documentation (you will need the [Portal Starter Kit (VB VS) v1.0b][1]version). For a quick preview run it online and click Portal Documentation in the upper right corner of the portal, where all components are explained. (Please do not bid, if you don't understand how the portal works.) The first step of this project is to extend the Portal Framework. Currently, we will be changing only one of the ten modules supplied by Microsoft, so that it works with the extended framework. In a second step, which is not part of this request, we will adapt existing modules and build additional ones. Please review the documents and let me know, if you would like to do the job. I tried to write everything down that came to my mind, but I am pretty sure there are things you want to ask. Once I selected a coder I want to work with, we may MSN chat for an hour or two to clarify all of your remaining questions. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform ASP.net IIS 6.0 SQL Server 2000 VB.net 2003 Visual basic only, not C#.
