Online messager for online based courses at College/University level. We would like to set up an instant messanger which must be compatible with Yahoo! Messenger (not essential to be compatible with other messengers). It does not require voice chat, video chat etc. Only the basic instant messenger functions. This should include: -customized graphic interface -easy to use and install some instructions all other functions as Yahoo! messenger (*Not* the voice chat or video chat, basic functions) in fact users will register their login ID there and there is no need for a new database. One important feature should be the possibility for the messanger to download once connected a list of contact names. This because the messanger should be integrated with our online learning platform. In other words in lieu of asking always the code of other students, there would be a directory or place where new subscribers are added. The instant messanger will check once launched if there are new contact names on the database or not. If there are, they would be added automatically. OR the possiblility to auto detect other people online using this special messenger (not all yahoo users!) so their classmates. PC version. Our server runs on Unix. No preference for the language you use. It could be similar to trillian [login to view URL] but as this will have to be compatible only with yahoo messanger, it should be much easier to realize. We need something simple and function without infringing any copyright issue. We should own the sourcecode. Some issues about bidding: We do not mind programmes from Eastern Europe or Asia as long as they can provide some references on feedback. Students from emerging countries are welcome.
