Copyedit a book

If you view my profile you will see that I registered with Freelancer in February this year and I have 13 reviews. English is my first language and my skills include technical writing, editing and proofreading. My ongoing freelance work includes editing papers for an online journal for translators and interpreters. I recently edited a 15,000-word document for a Swedish client who was so pleased with my work that he paid me a bonus. Last weekend I worked on rewriting a 24,500-word book to change it from a children's book to one suitable to be read by adults, and the result was described by the client as "perfect". (This latter job was via Elance.) The client has just rehired me to help her finish another book. I edit all the articles that my husband writes and I write and/or edit his photography blog posts. I am the editor of two electronic newsletters. I worked as a copy editor for Elsevier Science Publishers in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, rewriting text by authors who were not native English speakers. I have worked with individual clients to bring seven books to publication. Having been a teacher of English in high school for several years, I have spent many hours making corrections and suggestions for students' essays. For six years I have been a member of a critique group, regularly reviewing the stories submitted and occasionally writing my own, though I have come to prefer editing other people's work.
