I need a way to capture the audio being output by a Windows 10 computer. I want to feed this audio in real time to other software I have already created to encode it and distribute over ethernet. A typical use case is that the user is running YouTube, or some other streaming application. I need full source code so I can rebuild and incorporate this into my own software It seems Microsoft have deliberately made this hard to do with standard APIs. It may require a virtual device driver. Installing must be possible without any registry hacking or anything that would be difficult for an ordinary user to do.

Hi, please check my previous work, feedback and consider my bid. I have done this task before for pre-Win10 systems ( XP, 2003, Vista, 7 and 8 ). The method used for audio capture in modern OS'es ( Vista+ ) should work on Win10 as well, but it is a subject to verify and enhance the solution if needed. Regards, Dmitry Upd. : Yes, solution is working on Win 10 ( with minor code changes )

Hi, Based on my understanding of your project description I believe Microsoft's intended way of doing this would be through the loopback interface of the WASAPI . This a software loopback implemented in the WASAPI module which allows reading of the audio data after the mixer. If there is a reason this approach cannot be used, I can work on implementing a sAPO (Audio Processing Object) to sit in the audio stream and record data as it passes through which could then be read out through a virtual recording device. This approach will however likely require more time than the 10 days specified. Because Windows does not allow the loading of unsigned sAPOs by default, we would need to disable this protection (setting a registry key), which could be done automatically by an installer. I'm happy to discuss these approaches further or any other approach you would like to take.
