HI
I'm looking to have made a 'nylon12' (I hope I have the correct wording) colostomy ring that I've designed to use in case of future supply problems. I have a 3-D prototype that's worked in trials, but I'd like two or more of the same 'ring' in something unbreakable (so to speak). The 'ring' is mostly circular, with a belt loop on either side, and measures about 4 inches by three inches by 3/4 inch, with the middle 1 3/4 open. There is a flange on one side with a 1/4 inch undercut which holds a stretched rubber band, over a heavy plastic bag.
While the Kaiser Permanente ostomy folks have told me that they've had several patients express concern over potential supply problems, Kaiser wouldn't/ couldn't be making them available.
I've scoured the US patents, and there is nothing remotely similar. I'm 75% through searching international patents, with the same results.
While I see a potential 'safety' item for the over 1 million ostomy patients in the USA, at this time I'm mostly concerned for myself, only.
Thanks for your time and patience in reading this. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
