As a biologist I like to know at certain Points Of Interest (like feeding places, latrines and holts) if an animal wearing VHF transmitters (e.g. at 148.055 MHz) has been present. It is now possible to use a cheap DVB-T USB stick based on the RTL2832U chipset to make a Software Defined Radio. There is already a lot of information available on how to do this. E.g.: [login to view URL] and [login to view URL] I have managed to do such on windows, but now I need the same solution on a small embedded linux board (e.g. beagle board), which I can put in the field. Software is already available, but it needs to be adapted for my needs as a biologist. I need to put the board and the DVB-T stick in the field to record and save the RF signals of the radiotagged animals on a uSD card. The software needs to run at the moment that an animal is triggering a PIR sensor or another sensor attached to the linux board. Before and after running the software, the linux board needs to be in a sleep mode to save battery power. I am looking for a linux programmer who can adapt the available Linux RTL-SDR software to fit my needs. I do not have much experience with linux. It means that the software should be delivered as code which can be easily installed on embedded linux boards.
