Hello. I just review your project task and think it is interesting and simple for me. I have a real work experience with different microcontrollers families and with ATMEGA series also. This project seems to be some kind of deep engineering (maybe reverse engineering), so it needs some equipment to done it. I have an all needed equipment in my electronics lab (osc, generators, RLC meters, frequency and phase meters, different power supplies and so on). But I have some questions about your project: 1. What FTDI chip you use (it is probably some kind of protocol converter, but what exactly is?) 2. Do you have a more precision description of your project? I'll be happy if my skills will be useful for you. About me: --- R&D (principle, software, hardware) for complicated scientific and industrial projects. 1. Strong experience in R&D of the embedded electronic systems. 2. PhD in electronics 3. Excellent in C (for embedded systems) 4. Excellent in Java SE 5. 6 years in this field Portfolio: --- - smell's measurement system for airplanes (for "Airbus", Germany); - gas humidity precision measurement device (SRI, Ukraine); - biogas control system with Bluetooth (Germany); - small-size environment information system (Germany). Note: I need a precise technical description of the project to finally define all terms. Regards, Dr. Roman K.

Hi, Could you confirm if any some mistake at your project description? is the ARMAGA8 you mean is the microcontroller of ATMEGA8 from Atmel? If yes, i can assist you to create the GUI using Visual Basic 2010. Send and receiving the commands is depend on your data format. I can log it at CSV file. About configuring the device, i can make it to automatic detect the FTDI chip when the software is first running and can repeat it with the command button. Configuring the COM port number or you can find/browse it at the device manager with my command to view all the list COM port at Device Manager. You can select the baud rate, handshaking method, number of data, number of stop bit. If need the firmware of Atmega8, please feel free to discuss it to me. I will glad to work with you on this project. best regards, tki1i19
