I work for a printing company. We print every job from electronic files, like PDFs and then we archive those jobs once they are completed. Our current folder structure for our archives needs to be redesigned and I need some to write some sort of script or program that locate specific folders on a shared drive and then copy them to another location. Example: our current structure has folders that are Backup 1234, Backup 1235, Backup 1236, etc. Within a backup folder are approx. twenty sub-folders that begin with a job number, Ex. 62829, 83001, 41223. The job folders within a particular backup folder are not in any order or sequence. What we want to do is automatically search through a volume and find all job folders that are named a certain range, like say 62000-62999 and move (or copy) them to a new folder so that jobs are grouped by like job names.
I can script the program or even write a java, php, python or other language code and then script it in order to fulfill your need. Here to help you, don't hesitate to contact me, i will do my best to answer your questions and give you the best solution.
Hello,
I have 8+ years of programming experience in Python. I can write a Python script for you to organize folders based on search as specified.
Best regards.
