i am a wordpress expert and setup website on amazon ec2 many times as i am red hat certifed linux admin too, and regards your query i need to say that if there is huge traffic on your website dont go with amazon ec2 for sure speed will be better but if u updating reguraly than u need otpimizations several times and it may speed down with huge traffic, thats the truth i shared with you on bases of my expereinces.

Hello, i setup wordpress on aws ec2. i recommend centos distro for wordpress, cause its stable, light, secured compared to other distro. debian is also good for its lightweight os. but i recommend centos, cause you can get easy fix and troubleshoot topics on the internet. to take large amount of visit i will configure it that way on centos. so that your website perform better. i setup only those plugins in the centos which is needed for wordpress only. thank you.
