Data backup in unix/linux servers

Hi, I hope all your source servers and destination servers are linux. If you are looking for a native linux tools for network backup, my solution will be - 1. Use RSYNC tool to get data from remote servers 2. Setup a cron job on destination to execute the rsync commands 3. Create a shell script to put in crontab, which will be easy to manage if remote servers are more in numbers (Optional) Happy to discuss further - thank you.

I can develop a php script which will fetch files from various source servers and then save it on the destination server. I can make use of ftp connectivity for fetching files from various source servers. I can add an interface using which can manage source servers along with their ftp details. Then I will schedule the execution of a PHP script which will fetch files as per your configuration and save them on destination server. If the destination server is a VPS then the scheduling of crontab can also be configured from the interface.

Hi, I've read your project brief and understand you require a cron job to periodically dump your database(s) and relevant source code/files, zip them up and ship them off site to a remote server for disaster recovery purposes. I would use rsync and gzip to automatically backup any directories you need off-site. It can also be setup to make backups of databases if you need that too. I have over 9 years of professional server administration and have designed bash scripts to do exactly what you're needing. On top of just backing up I can also include backup rotations to automatically prune old backups so the destination server won't run out of space.
