We have a dental practice management system that exports letters to Word DOCS using the mail merge field features.
For example, a dentist selects "Write a letter", selects the appropriate template from a window of files, and then this is opened and data from the application is populated such as name of patient, address, medical history.
We want to produce a file / app that can be opened in lieu of the Word Template (but may need be called .doc or similar so it is seen by the system) and it then collects the merged data and passes this to a HTTP site or API.
Other solutions include "catching" the file open command and accessing the data this way?
It seems a simple problem but we are looking for solutions.
I have a short video that shows how the system is working - apologies for quality but it give you an idea:

Hi,
I have some problem to understand your specification for your project.
If you need an application that reads data from .doc files and merges the data and send the date to any HTTP server, I can build that application.
I am going to build Windows version in C#.
My app can work in Windows XP, Win 7 or later Windows versions.
Thanks
Li
I have watched the video you have uploaded and would like to check I understand what it is you require.
You wish for a new item to appear in the export selection window which will allow patients details to be exported to a HTTP source? I would approach this problem by building in an active object into a new word document which will read all data exported by your current program, check its content, then post it to HTTP. This process would be entirely automatic, the word program will appear for a breif second but then automatically close and a web browser open with your data.
I specialize in situations like these, making multiple systems interact. I used to work for IFDS (International Financial Data Services) In the United Kingdom and they had several programs over 10 years old needing to interface with new software. As well as completing this project in a timely manor I stand by the work I create. If in several months for some reason what I give you stops working I would be willing to fix it for free. If you need adjustmants to what I give you (After this agreed term) I would be willing to adjust it for a signifigantly reduced sum.
I hope that you decide to hire me as I enjoy challenges like this. Where I have a clear head about how to complete the whole task right from the start. If you have any questions for me please don't hesitate to contact me.
