I don't know enough about mySQL to be sure of all this, but I think this is what I need:
I am trying to get a database of orders that are submitted on-line. Currently all the order information (name, product code, etc.) comes into a Perl script that I use to generate an email to myself when there is a new order. I would like to use this same Perl script to enter all the order information into a database, so that I can access it in bulk later instead of dealing with individual emails.
My web hosting company is Insiderhosting.com. They have Linux servers, and they support Perl and mySQL databases. So what I would like is an SQL database that contains the order information, as well as a simple way to access this information.
The web hosting control panel has an administration system called phpMyAdmin which administers the SQL databases, and this may be sufficient for administration if I can figure out what it is that I need to do with it. Or maybe it will be necessary to have an application of some kind that allows me to view the database and extract information from it. That is the part I don't know about.
So what I need is the following:
- Perl code that will go into my existing Perl script to get the order information and put it into an SQL database.
- Instructions on how to use the phpMyAdmin interface, or an application to allow me to view the database and extract information.
