For personal use and research I need a script which can I can initiate by email and which logs into a website and fills out two fields with values from the email.
Details:
- I send an email to an email address which includes "username,password,fieldvalue1,fieldvalue2".
- SCRIPT-INITIATION (see below)
- The script goes to the login page [login to view URL], fills in username and passwort to login.
- The script fills in fieldvalue1 and fieldvalue2 into the fields on the website and pushs the OK button on the website.
- Finished
SCRIPT-INITIATION:
This part I haven't solved yet. One way would be using a rule in Outlook. Outlook is permanently running on my PC. The rule could start an external application, but I don't know how it could pass over the parameter which I send in the email. Outlook rules can also start an Outlook script, maybe this is a solution.
But by far the best solution would be if the script could run on the server where my website is hosted (paid webhosting, perl, php, etc. included). This would be independant from my home PC being online. Not sure if there is any way to initiate a script on the server by email. If you have an idea please let me know how you could solve this.
The script is for personal use but it is one of the first steps for experiencing in automatizing certain processes on the internet which I am doing as research in a PhD program.
If you are interested to do this please send me a PM and briefly explain how you can solve it. I will give you the website where the script should log into.
Thank you.
