EXCEL TO DB (ACCESS OR MSSQL TYPE DB)

1. There shall be four components in the overall solution: 1.1. Data import utility 1.1.1. This shall be a standalone application running in the background with minimal user interface. 1.1.2. Users shall be able to setup the frequency and date-time for the running the utility. Other configurable options may include path of source files (Excel workbooks) and the destination database. 1.1.3. The utility shall validate the given excel sheet before attempting to import the data to the database. Validation shall be performed against the user modifiable lookup table that shall define the value ranges for each indicator (field) in the source excel workbook. If the validation fails, a report shall be generated for the user and import of data shall be aborted. 1.1.4. The validation table shall also be defined in the interface provided by this utility 1.1.5. Data shall be imported to the destination database tables once all the validation checks are cleared. 1.1.6. The one time data import of 60 excel sheets shall also be carried out with the utility 1.2. Database Design 1.2.1. Database shall be designed in MS Access or MSSQL. 1.2.2. Database shall be designed to accommodate both the data from old excel format and also from the modified newer format (with breakdown or sub-details and aggregation columns) 1.2.3. Database shall also be designed for the two new data entry screens 1.2.4. Database shall also carry all administrative / configurable information like validation ranges, user credentials etc. 1.3. Data Entry Application 1.3.1. This shall be a desktop application with a user login / authentication screen and two data entry forms as described in the “ADDITIONAL ENTRY SCREENS (tables).docx” shared by the client. 1.3.2. Administrative screen shall be also be available to allow creating new users and configure any relevant information (within the present scope). 1.3.3. This application shall be developed in tools that DO NOT require support from IT and the USER can manage it on his own. Ideally using ACCESS or MSSQL standalone. 1.3.4. The interface for configuring the background data import utility (as described above) may also be provided here instead. 1.4. Business Intelligence Reporting(DASHBOARD) (SEE NEW LIST OF REPORTS DOC) 1.4.1. BI and reporting shall be developed in PowerBI/tableau or similar LOW cost tools. This, however, shall require additional licensing which shall be in addition to the cost of developing the solution proposed here. 1.4.2. 15 core reports and charts shall be developed and represented on a DASHBOARD, (SEE NEW LIST OF REPORTS DOC) 1.4.3. Users shall be able to further additional reports on their own using the PowerBI/TABLEAU other similar tools with the DB that is created.
