As part of a fantasy sports application, update Perl script to consume an XML API ([login to view URL]), and then store that data in a MySQL database.
These scripts once worked, but can't just be "switched on". These reasons include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- The MySQL connection information is to the old server, which no longer exists.
- The API credentials are no longer valid (I have new API credentials)
- SportsData has updated a few of their APIs since this script was active. This might mean minor changes to the mapping of data (you can't make changes to the MySQL table structure, though).
The scripts do not have any documentation other than some commenting, but SportsData has extensive documentation including a detailed changelog from previous versions which you would have access to, and static example XML files.
I need someone who can test these scripts, update them where necessary, and deliver working copies. You'll be expected to set up and work from your own dev environment. If you are a desirable candidate, I will send you one script (for one XML feed from one sport) along with the accompanying documentation for you to look over and estimate duration for that one script. I will hire for that one script at first and discuss the remainder of the project after delivery.
