iOS App for iPhone 7+ which uses Google Calendar as technology framework

I am trying to create a simplified version of Google calendar for a relative that is losing their short term memory. They are finding it difficult to stay on top of what they need to do each day. The current Google calendar format is too complex for them and they get lost in all the different functionality - i want to simplify and lock it all down so it is helpful for them, instead of confusing. The basics of what I need are listed below. I also mocked up a screenshot of what i need (attached). In the header for the app: • User’s Google+ Profile Image • Message reads “Hi Grace, it’s {Day, PartOfDay} where PartOfDay = {Morning, Afternoon, Night} The remaining space on the screen is a dynamic calendar view • The view locked so that is shows current and future events for today only • Basic format can match the new google calendar design guidelines – pulls in any required info (eg images, text) from google calendar API • Instead of showing times, it shows time to each event from now eg: In 2 Hours • Once event is finished, it is removed from the calendar view Other requirements: • No ability to click into an event • No ability to edit or modify an event • Cannot minimize app or close the app without clicking on the home button on the iphone Loading strategy of data: • when you create an event on the back-end it updates immediately on the iOS app. • This is critical. The app does NOT poll the server, rather the dev uses a framework to receive a push when an event occurs. Deliverable • Deliverable is IPA file • All source code (the xCode project) as well as any server code (ie heroku for intercepting event notifications)
