Calling all freelance copyeditors! I own a copyediting, copywriting and proofreading company called Ayres Copyediting. My business is currently growing, so I am looking for a reliable freelance copyeditor to assign jobs to when needed. I provide services to a range of clients, including students and universities, so the successful applicant should be comfortable with academic material. If you have skills and experience in writing, even better, but to begin with I'd just be looking for a skilled copyeditor/proofreader. Qualifications are great, but ultimately I just want to find someone who's great at what they do, and if that person has no qualifications at all then so be it. I hold myself to a very high standard, and I'm looking for someone who can maintain that standard, someone whose work I don't feel the need to double check. There would be no guarantees in terms of frequency of work, and initially there probably wouldn't be much, but you would be my go-to any time I needed a copyeditor. The successful applicant should be available in March/April 2017, as I anticipate needing to assign a fair volume of work at this time. In terms of payment, I would state the set rate for the job before commencement. The rate of pay will generally fall somewhere between $10 and $25 per 1000 words depending on the complexity of the content and the extent of the changes required - this is something I would assess beforehand. For good work and loyalty, there would be the potential for an increase in pay down the track. If you think you're right for the job, let's talk!
