Back Pain
Back pain is a very common problem and it has affected 90 % of America’s population. More than 50% have had multiple attacks while the rest have experienced it at some point of time in their life. But, back pain should no be ignored, a proper diagnosis is essential in order to understand the cause of such a complication. It is just a symptom of numerous diseases.
Causes
Our back is a complicated structure and is composed of muscles, tendons, ligaments, disks and mainly bones. The disks are the cartilage which forms the padding between the spine segments. A problem or complication in these components can cause a pain in the back.
Back pain is mainly caused due to –
Strain in muscles, tendons ad ligaments due to weight lifting or awkward postures.
Muscle spasm.
Structural problems like, bulging disks, sciatica, arthritis, skeletal irregularities, osteoporosis.
In some cases of back pain, the cause cannot be defined.
In some rare conditions, one can have a pain in the back due to –
Spinal cancer.
Spinal infection.
Cauda equine syndrome.
Back pain tends to increase with age, obesity, physical strain, stressful work, anxiety, depression and also smoking.
If back pain is persistent, you should see a doctor. You also need to note if there is some other abnormalities associated with the pain. Proper diagnosis will help you to understand why you are having such pain.
