Essay Topic: Sleeping Disorders (All Major) The presentation itself will include a regular Microsoft Word file. You must attach a Power Point presentation file with graphics and images. On the other hand, some people may not have Power Point presentation program at home. In this case, use computers in the library.) Any presentation should include an outline, a paper, and the sources (bibliography). The outline is the plan of the presentation. It should be at least one page long as it indicates the major parts of your presentation. The paper will follow the sequence of the disease presentation. After extensive research, it should include parts on etiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, complications, treatment, prognosis, and prevention. This will help you not to miss important points in the disease discussion. Personal experiences and social considerations are welcome but they cannot substitute for basic medical information. Major medical terms and necessary concepts of anatomy and physiology must be explained. The minimal size of the paper is 1000 words. The bibliography should include at least 5 sources. If there are any comments, you will get a personal message from me. If not, you will post the file to the Discussion Board on the date of the presentation. (I will open new Forum each week.) Late presentations will not be accepted. Every student is expected to review the presentation files and post comments (at least 2) and questions to the presenter (at least 1) in a timely manner. It is important that you post your questions and comments early in the week. This will give a chance for thoughtful response and further discussion. The participation in each weekly discussion is 2% of the final grade for the class. The students who present the topic will be facilitators of the discussion. They are expected to give correct and informative answers to at least 5 questions of their choice and to moderate the discussion in general. The role of the instructor is to let the discussion take its course and give some guidance to the facilitators and other participants. All work that you submit to me will be run through a plagiarism checker so nothing bad occurs, its added safety for me. I need the paper for Sunday April 6, 2003 5:00 pm but can accept later in the day if deadline cannot be met.
