We have purchased a new DELL PC with Linux and it can't see the network card. We are also having some problems loading an application ( failure to create a symbolic link ). ibus-daemon: no process found. bash: im-switch: command not found.

1. Network card issue We need to diagnose the issue. - hal and dbus does not find network vendor id and product id. - fail to load network driver - fail to configure network device based upon ifconfig setting. 2. ibus-daemon: because you have missed some ibus packages. Recent Linux distros uses dbus to configure Input Method.

Hello, What Linux distribution are you using? I have quite a few Dell PowerEdge servers myself and I remember I had a similar problem with one or two of them. I assume the network card does not appear when using tools like "ip link" or "ifconfig". The most likely cause is missing network card firmware; quite a few network card models require the kernel to load the firmware into them. You will probably have to install the missing firmware package. Regarding the application errors it is probably due to a missing package which also needs to be installed. I need some more details information, and can you provide me ssh access? I dont need root access just give me full sudo privilege. As this might something you have to do with compiling driver and kernel
