Bash Scripting

I want a script that will process an attached USB drive (which is simply a directory from the point of view of the script) that has the files in different subdirectories (could be any number of subdirectories, so would need to recursively examine all the directories starting from the top level of the usb) and extract all relevant evidence as follows: - All images will be copied to the images folder - All documents will go to the documents folder - All programs will go to the programs folder - All web files will go to the we folder - Misc. will contain all other files - Each file should have its hash md5 /sha1 calculated ad sent to a text file (for example, [login to view URL] will have [login to view URL] and [login to view URL] in the same directory) This script should handle at least jpg, png, and gif images; doc, docx, txt, xls, ppt documents; .exe, .dll, programs, and htm, hmtl web files; everything else should go to misc. The script should then print a summary of the findings: Case: …. Total Number of Files: …. Total Images found: … Total Documents Found: …. Total Program Files: …. Total Web Files: …. Other Misc: ….. The script should be robust: - Has error checking - Has a usage output - Checks files based on their content and not their names - Prints summery of findings - Has an exit code - Etc.
