This project is for a unique style of book that involves a storyline that changes depending on choices made by the reader. The text for each of the pages has been written, but may not be properly worded for a young reader. The reading level desired is targeted to be suitable for early readers, ages 7 to 10. There is also a desire to include excitement, intrigue and adventure into the reader’s experience. In other words, take my writings and make them fun!
Each of the 22 pages for the project will be carefully detailed concerning the expectations of the text. Collaborative communication between the editor and employer will involve agreement on the completion of each page and feedback for any needed revisions.
Consider this typical example of a page's text, “Rowing across the water was tiring, but you are encouraged by having arrived at the small island with a moment to rest on the sandy beach. The high rising hillside cliffs in front of you suggest that you could follow the shoreline that disappears around a treacherous but passable rocky shore to the right. You notice markings in the nearby sand that appear to be footprints leading in the other direction towards what looks like a seldom used pathway entering a line of bushes and palm trees. Having regained your strength, you realize it is time to move on, but which way?”
The page’s illustration shows what is described in the text, a boy kneeling in the sand in front of a steep cliff with a beach that ends in a rocky shore to the right and a tree line with a pathway to the left. The reader needs to get a sense of the feeling of being in the boy’s place and facing the decision of choosing a direction. Each of the other 21 pages will be defined by the unique scene presented to the boy (reader) with a selection of movement options illustrated. Each decision will lead the reader to a predetermined page where yet another storyline option is presented. It is most important that the text from one connecting page to another is consistent so that the reader feels as though they are “moving” through the story as it progresses.
All bidders are requested to submit a sample rewriting of the page text example previously described. The intention of the sample editing is to confirm communication capabilities between the bidder and the employer. Reading and writing in English is required for this project in order to collaborate on writing details and ideas. The project will need to be completed within 10 days. Payment will be made using the Milestone Payment System.
If you are interested in bidding on this project, and you think that you have the imaginative skills to improve a story that will thrill the audio senses of young children, then please submit your bid along with a PM including your suggested rewording of the sample text. Thank you for considering this project.
