Clinical-, Tissue- and Cell Culture Database

Implement a user-friendly database to integrate work from bench to bedside and vice versa between scientists and clinicians. The daily routine of a scientists consists of:

- culturing cells under different conditions

- freezing/fixing the cells

- experiments: FISH/sequencing/histological studies and many more, all of which have one goal: to provide knowledge that will ultimately lead to the development of new drugs that help the patient.

On the other hand, clinicians take immediate care of the patients:

- they locate the disease

- provide a diagnosis based on molecular markers, histopathology, MRIs and the fitness of the patient

- advise the patient on what his treatment-options are and treat him according to his choice.

But also, they provide the cells that the scientist will use for his experiments.

This cycling workflow creates a need for a well organized database, easily accessible to all parties: scientists, clinicians and administration, to keep track of all actions and decisions that have been made. But also, protecting the privacy of the patient: e.g. only clinicians are allowed to view their patients personal details.

We're looking for the whole package: backend to frontend, preferable as Mysql <-- Java <-- Php/JavaScript. I'm a bioinformatician and will be your interface to the science-world during the entire project. The focus will be on the implementation, since most of the design has already been done. However any suggestions for improvements are welcome.
