Compile Legislation, Standards, and/or Advisories on Infrasound Exposure

Objective: To compile and contrast existing limits, standards, and legislation relating to noise in general, and with focus on impulse-based infrasound (such as those from rock blasting). Task: • To search the existing legislation, engineering standards, construction or industrial codes, and published literature (or online) sources for guidelines on the generation and limits on issues related to noise and infrasound. • The countries to cover include: UK, US, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and any other two EU countries. • To compile information from the above in a table/tables (or any other format that allows easy comparison across countries) • To understand and develop meaningful ways of comparison between countries. • To state the sources of all information, and where copyright allows (such as from free online sources) to provide copy of the source document in appended folder. Deliverable: • A 2 page (single-spaced) summary of key findings, excluding references, tables, or figures. The conclusion aim to help answer: (1) are there legislation to infrasound exposure or production in these countries, to detail related information, (2) if no legal limits what advisory or guidelines and what agencies are involved. • A table (or tables, or any other format that allows easy comparison across countries) that compares various aspect of infrasound guidelines. • An appended folder of document sources (where copyright allows) • Assessment of deliverable will be via an assessment of comprehensiveness, accuracy of information, and ease of comprehension.
