In this project, you will investigate and develop an algorithm in MATLAB language to recognise the following eight handwritten metric prefixes: p, n, μ, m, k, M, G and T. Your algorithm must be robust against scale and orientation variance, and strong enough to identify the variety of hand-drawn symbols/numbers/letters by different people. You will need to carry out a thorough testing of your algorithm and present the outcome in the form of a poster presentation, a written report and a live demonstration. This is an individual project. Group work is not allowed. You will need to individually produce the following items: 1. A fully working algorithm in MATLAB language. Your algorithm must prompt the user for a filename which contains a handwritten symbol/number/letter in JPEG format, and display the recognition result on the screen. Your algorithm must be able to read input files from a from a USB memory stick. The algorithm should take less than 30 seconds to execute (preferably instantaneous). 2. A 3-min 1-slide poster presentation followed by demonstration, and question time. All within an approximate 10-min time limit. 3. A 4-page 2-column paper that documents the work that you have achieved. Please note that:
