Java Fixed-Length Flat-File binary search and retrieve(repost)

I need to access a file with fixed size records containing fixed size fields. The file is sorted by the key field (which is unique). I want to do a binary search of the file to quickly find the record needed. It would be best to provide an external comparison function via some sort of inversion of control (injection). Easy enough so far.

This Java code must work inside of a Rhino JavaScript program, and the file will be on the same server with this JavaScript/Java code. So this is server side code accessing a file on the same server. I'm a little unsure about where best to store this file with respect to permissions and the like, so I may need a little bit of assistance setting it up to run correctly.

I found a library JRecord that looks like it's a good start on this, but it doesn't have the binary search. I also don't know if JRecord will run in the Rhino context.

I will provide the file after the bid is placed, it's nothing special.
