Matlab code which generates an L band signal for soil moisture retrieval. Consider appropriate channel propagation. It takes input variables from GUI such as type of soil, surface roughness, Soil Texture, Soil Density, Soil Temperature and vegetation cover. It then receives the signal and considers all the factors such as pathloss and soil properties loss and soil moisture loss. The reflected/received signal should is a representation of amplitude, phase and polarisation. Represent the reflected signal in terms of graphs and well.
We do not have to create our own model or simulation. Just a matlab simulation code which takes into consideration all the soil factors that affect the signal for Soil Moisture retieval. Later process this signal using WCM. Additionally a GUI based input would be great to change the parameters. Graphs to show comparison of signal vs each soil property would be helpful to generate the report.
If you could share any research papers that you come across would also be helpful.
we have to simulate the Signal with one transmiter and receiver. The transmitter is supposed to be a drone based transmitter with approx height of 50m above the ground surface (d).
we then receive and calculate the signal (Sr) such that SR=Received signal-Signal Loss(pathloss)-Signal Loss(soil type)-Signal Loss (ruggedness)-Signal Loss (moisture) and other soil related factors that affect the signal etc.
2. All parameters that affect the signal should a function of frequency. Define all individual factors in terms of curves wrt frequency.
Mention individual closed form equation of individual factors related to soil. So that you can use all of them together in the main equation for received signal.
Configure propagation channel in the simulation and modulation. Also mention the phase and polarization of the transmitted and received signal (as it may change after being reflected from the soil surface.)
The received signal will later be passed from water cloud model which will convert the received signal into appropriate ratio which represents Soil Moisture (%). For GUI you can consider different types of soil such as sand, mud etc.
Mention a basic Link budget equation (only if possible) such that Received power (dBm) = transmitted power (dBm) + gains (dB) − losses (dB)
