Shopify Coder for Sticky Cart Button

I am using the Brooklyn theme.
I want to code a button onto my product page.
The button should open up my slider (ajax) cart when pressed.
The button should not be visible and not exist when there are 0 items in my cart. However, when there's 1 item in the cart, I want the button to pop out.
I have coded it, but it's a CSS/HTML button. This means that unless you add something to cart THEN refresh, the button will not show. However, the button will appear when I press refresh.
I am told that it requires some sort of javascript/jquery coding. I want to keep my code as clean as possible so I'll need all your edits with 0 external scripts as I want my theme to be as fast as possible.
