* **Systems analysis and design -** Bringing together clients views/ideas and breaking down and structuring them into a viable application proposal.
* **Introduction to Ecommerce -** knowledge, application and understanding of web to client sales.
* **Applications in I.T. -** Using and developing articles, databases, spreadsheets etc. Can also be used to tutor clients
* **Principles of computers -** General computer knowledge. "all about zeros and ones".
* **Communications case studies -** Behind the scenes work. Research, data collection, presentations etc.
* **Principles of visual programming 1 -** Exactly what it says and more. Visual basic coding
* **Principles of visual programming 2 -** Further to above. Can also use Delphi and C.
* **Internet introduction -** Large knowledge base of internet and its uses. Also HTML and XML coding. JavaScript covered.
* **Multimedia Applications 1 -** principles of multimedia applications. Basic flash development.
* **Multimedia Applications 2 -** Advanced flash development and action scripting.
* **C programming and unix -** Using and working on Unix OS. Basic C programming covered.
* **Advanced C programming -** Delved deeper into C programming.
* **Database development -** MSSQL, MYSQL, usage with PHP. Planning and development of joint open source projects.
* **Networks and communications -** more "zeros and ones". Background knowledge of how computers communicate and networking knowledge.
* **More.. -** I also took part in two group projects where we were to act as a business taking on a full project. From its initial idea to it getting up and running. Bringing together all knowledge previously learnt. This also included learning new skills as I progressed, and creating technical documents.
As well as the Diploma, i have almost finished a BSc Degree in computer studies.
<u>Modules:</u>
**Database systems -** I covered all areas of designing and creating databases to SQL standards. I also concentrated heavily on every aspect of MSSQL and MySQL.
**Enterprise web development ( two modules ) -** These two modules covered concepts of creating a web presence for corporations. It also focused on marketing websites and search engine optimisation. The second module focused heavily on e-commerce, including catalogues/shopping carts and money handling. All of the module used Visual Studio 2005 .NET technology. The language of choice was C#.
**Web Scripting -** This module focuses on the utilisation of current client-side and server-side scripting languages and the development of Dynamic HTML interfaces.
This module gave me an indepth knowledge of:
XHTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript/ECMAscript, Document Object Modelling, Regular Expressions, PHP, Perl, MySQL.
The module also concentrated on accessibility issues and conforming to strict [login to view URL] standards.
**Developing Multimedia Applications -** The module covered application of appropriate methodolgy in the design process of multimedia prototypes. i had to demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical and technological issues and constraints in relation to multimedia design and production. I was to learn differnt authoring tools. The main one was Macromedia/Adobe Director and Lingo Script
**Design for Usability -** This module was about user centered web development. The main aims were to create websites that were fair (accessible to diabled etc) and also aesthetically pleasing. We had to asses who would view the sites, if they have colour perception problems etc and then give solutions. Alot of theory was covered, and some photoshop and extra CSS lessons.
