NAATI [National Accreditation Authority for Translators and
Interpreters, Australia] accreditation as Advanced Translator (formerly level 4), English —> Italian and Italian —> English, obtained in 1988 [attained Level 3 accreditation (also in both directions) in 1984].
NAATI accreditation as Interpreter (formerly Level 3), English/Italian, as from 1983.
Interpreting/Translating experience:
Continuously engaged since 1972 in Interpreting/Translating activities on a free-lance basis working in the areas of law, medicine, business and commerce, science and technology.
1972-76: official (part-time) interpreter/translator for the Italian Embassy Commercial Office in Auckland (New Zealand).
1976-1980: freelance interpreter/translator in the Brisbane.
1980–1981: consultant, Migrant Services Section, Australian Department of Social Security, Canberra for the production of a multilingual glossary of social security terms for use by the Department's public contact personnel and by interpreters/translators (subsequently published in 1983).
1984-2003: coordinator/lecturer for the NAATI accredited paraprofessional interpreting course at the University of Wollongong.
1986-2003: panel interpreter and translator for the Translating and Interpreting Service (official Australian Federal Government agency).
1986-current: panel translator and interpreter for the Community Relations Commission of NSW (official NSW Government agency, formerly Ethnic Affairs Commission).
1980-current: freelance interpreter/translator in the Wollongong area.
Signature and NAATI stamp are registered with and recongised by: (i) DEFAT (for apostille); (ii) Italian Consulate General, Sydney; (iii) Italian Vice Consulate, Wollongong.
