Existing Android App - needs debugging and improvements.
App communicates with our own APIs, so half of the internal operations are about REST calls and displaying simple information.
Android specific programming tasks include
+ improving the background operation of the app
+ improving the bluetooth and audio operations.
+ improving the UI/Theme
+ improving the efficiency of the file/info exchange between client & server
Freelancer will need access and knowledge of
+ Android App development and device hardware.
+ Server-side PHP
+ Freelancer will need expertise in Android App development, Android APS (4.0 and greater) and will need occasional access to at least 2 Android 4.x/Bluetooth capable phones, and one bluetooth earpiece or headset.

The project will be tasked with a series of specific paid milestones ,
(including initial time for you to get familiar with the app and code
and then later transformed into an hourly job.

Work style of the developer is ABSOLUTELY the MOST IMPORTANT part of the skillset - ability to
+ work with an existing code base without complaint.
+ work in an unstructured environment - this is not for a big company project with lots of resources or formal documentation... this is for a startup.
+ can work independently without the need for formal specs (sometimes)
+ can communicate very well in english (over skype - written)
+ LISTEN to the client instructions and specs.
+ Prompt reliable communications is a must. If you do not have the time to reply to emails or be on time for scheduled skype chats, or do not respect agreed upon deadlines - then this project is not for you.

while you can submit an estimate (as required by Elance) - you really do not have any information to base a reliable estimate. So instead I am looking for a personal note from you and we can initially discuss on skype before I scope out the milestones.
Generally, milestones are scoped out in 5-10 man-hour blocks of tasks. Once the first few milestones are complete, we will probably switch to an hourly contract since the tasks are much smaller and definable.
