Build WooCommerce Layered Nav Bar for Parts Store. Code some taxonomies as sub type of others (Brand/Model) (Brand/MPN)

The current parts site is large and has product attribute taxonomies defined. For example, brand, part type, MPN, category.
We sell OEM parts and aftermarket parts. When an archive of pa_model is shown, the user can see all available parts for that model. We are unable to put a categories dropdown list of models due to size. We would like them to be able to choose brand then model would limit to those brands. By choosing a model, they would see the pa_model archive.
Additionally, we need to address pdf diagrams differently. We have a custom post type now with taxonomies. We would like to use the same pa_brand, pa_model, grouping for these. We are also thinking that the post type may not be needed tie it to the pdf in the media library. We would like layered navigation filter to address these too.
