Hello,
We have developed a small application to merge 2 pdfs using pdftk library and then make a zip file. Our server is 2 x QuadCore harpertown (8 cores) with 8gig ram (Cent OS 64bit) but while doing a loadtesting the server load went too high upto 80 and created only only 300 final zip files.. and as per the server guys if we have 8 cores the load should not go high more than 8
We are expecting atleast 2000-3000 concurrent users using our system.
We need someone to test the application and make the modification required.
You should be well aware of load testing and should know very well how to tweak the application or library to use less server resources
Note that these PDFs are not same for everyone.. so we cannot keep them in memory or somewhere static.. every user will have different PDFs to merge.
The library we are using is pdftk and to merge pdf there is only 1 command line.. (search google for pdftk and you will get the library and help)
I suggest that you first test it on your server (both the pdfs should be atleast 500k each i.e. 1mb after merging) and zip them... do a load test and let me know how many concurrent users can use the system with the server load
