PERL script needed for MySQL data Manipulations

I have 3.2 million rows in MySQL database that have 15 columns of information per row.

I need the following done:

I) The first column of the 15 column (fields) is an email address and within the 3.2. million rows there are several duplicate email addresses. There may be two or more duplicate email addresses in the 3.2 million rows. We wish to eliminate all duplicate rows leaving just one row. The row or rows that will be eliminated should be based upon the regsitration date of the record that is also contained within each record. We would like to keep the latest record registered because the chances are that this record is most up to date.

The registration dates have all been preprocessed to have a standard xx/xx/xxxx format.
