Investigate Server Bandwidth usage relating to DDOS attack and update Memcached service

Our dedicated server has spiked bandwidth usage over past few days but the traffic does not originate from HTTP source. We were informed by our hosting company it could be related to memcached vulnerability listed here:

We need a experienced server admin to find out (with evidence) what exactly is consuming the server bandwidth. And if it is really related to memcached service, to patch the service so the bug is completely removed.
