The aim is to redesign the website while providing a fresh, renewed look on Wordpress.
The organization was setup to support the government to provide basic social services for human survival, health care, water and education.
Within these 3 sectors, we currently have 5 projects: H2H (Health Centre to Hospital Upgrade Project), Clean and Safe Access to Water, Education, Safe Motherhood (Reproductive Child Health) and Women and Sustainable Livelihood
Our Health Centre is the most active arm which comprises of 45 full time medical staff and 10 part time medical practitioners which is why you will see a lot more pictorial activity on the medical side.
The Medical sector conducts Free Cataract Camps throughout the year, treating between 100 - 150 underprivileged Tanzanians who suffer from either partial or complete blindness at no cost whatsoever. While most of the camps are conducted at the MEDEWELL Health Centre, in 2015 for the first time, our team of surgeons, medical staff and volunteers travelled to Muheza, Tanga to conduct the cataract camp which has constantly swelling need within the local population.
The camp covers for accommodation and meals 3 times a day for all 3 days not only for the patient but their escort is also provided the same hospitality. A service provided by none other in the country.
MEDEWELL also managed to secure full funding for an eye screening project for a nearby school consisting of nearly 1500 students.
The H2H project is now in its final stages. The x-ray machine has been purchased and installed and operationalized a month ago, ultrasound, RCH and the labour rooms are all setup and operational.
As we finalize drawing out the final stages of our compliance with the hospital registration process, we are hopeful to acquire our official hospital license by the end of 2016.
MEDEWELL Health Centre has the following plans for the near future:
- Setup an ophthalmology department
- Setup a dental department and establish regular dental camps
The Water projects under the new committee began in partnership with Sathya Sai International Organization Switzerland. 4 Wells have been constructed within the last 8 months directly affecting the lives of more than 2000 people.
The wells have been constructed at strategic sites, a primary school, mosque, church and in deserted villages. I have attached a few pictures some taken at the Health Centre, the cataract camp, at the water well inauguration.
I have also attached one touching story about Joseph who came to the camp which was conducted in Muheza, Tanga earlier this year
