Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809 in the state of Kentucky. His father, Thomas Lincoln, was a simple farmer and their family was involved in farming. However, Abraham Lincoln's childhood was difficult and he had very little chance to go to school. Nevertheless, he educated himself, learned law, and began a political career that would make him a renowned leader.

In the 1830s, Lincoln began practicing law in the state of Illinois, and in 1846, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives. Later in 1860, he became the 16th President of the United States, serving during one of the most tumultuous periods in American history: the Civil War. As President, he preserved the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the federal government, and modernized the economy.

Unfortunately, Lincoln's presidency was cut short when he was assassinated in 1865 by John Wilkes Booth, a southern sympathizer who opposed Lincoln's policies. Nevertheless, Lincoln remains one of the most beloved and influential figures in American history, remembered for his leadership during a critical time in the nation's history and his contributions to the abolition of slavery.
