Changes in Scanning software

We have a Scanning software that sent files to our server. We need the following modifications:
1. PDF FILES
In the current version, the app transforms the selected PDFs to JPEG images (for those files uploaded from the computer, not the scanned ones). The files should be sent automatically to the server, without transforming them. That way, we could have the original files in the server. Our webservice can manage PDFs using base64 (the same way we work with images).
2. COMPRESSION
For the scanned images, we need to reduce the image size. We need to maintain the dpi level, but is there any way to reduce the size using compression libraries? Something like Photoshop does: it mantains the size, the dpi, the quality (more or less), but it reduces considerably the size.
3. MAXIMIZE AND MINIMIZE
The option to maximize the window (to take the whole screen) or minimize it.
