Add Role Base Access Control in a PHP/MySql system

We have a PHP/Mysql system that we built from scratch. WeI have a user table but we want to add permission levels to the users.
We found this script that we think would be perfect:

The current system is a Supply Chain Manager system. and currently on each page the system checks if the user is logged in. but i need to add a role based to this system.
