I would like to build a travel themed website where travelers can post their future travel itineraries for other travelers that may be interested in joining them on their trip. I would like the site to be social where users have profiles and can discuss different topics in the forums or email each other directly through the site. Once a user posts his/her travel itinerary, other uses can browse public trips and contact the creator if interested in joining. I would like to model this site similar to couchsurfing.org. Travelers that have went on a trip with other travelers can leave a review just like couchsurfing.org. I would like a user form where users can submit hotel and airfare deals to be shown in a list publicly on the site. When the user posts a public trip, they will need to include dates, cities, flights and accommodations with a cost estimate. They need to be able to post the trip and confirm once they have booked. The goal of this site will be to connect travelers that want to join each other on a trip that they are both interested in. A trip can be taken by 1 or more site users. I would like this site to use BuddyPress with extra authentication when a user registers to prevent spam and password cracking and allow for FaceBook login. Before the user is signed in, they can see public trips, but no info about users who will be traveling and read posts and deals. I am looking to build a community and need someone who has experience doing this. These are the general high level requirements.
I have WordPress up and running on HostGator. This will be a secondary site on a WP multi-site install.
