Campaign site: Scan a photo; find 'triangles'; output result to site

We are working on a campaign for a client and we have an idea for a website, possibly also a mobile app.
Basically, we would like an API (to be used on website and maybe mobile app) that can take an image/photo as input and analyse this image to find triangles in the photo.

Our plan is to produce a website where the visitor can upload an image (of themselves) and this is "analysed" and shows how much "triangle" the image is. Basically finding a cluster of pixels/shape in the image which is triangle-ish.... This is because our client creates triangle-shaped potato chips :)
We'd like this website to also be used offsite, e.g. in a specially built booth in a shopping mall where it will take photos of people, the photo is uploaded, analysed and a value of how “triangle” they are.
